About this Webinar

Dr. Roknian will explore how laser-assisted photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), also known as low-level laser therapy, may provide a noninvasive approach to managing chronic inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) injuries and longstanding neurosensory deficits following implant-related complications.

The program will review the biologic mechanisms behind photobiomodulation, including its effects on mitochondrial activity, ATP production, inflammatory modulation, and neural regeneration. Through a clinical case involving a patient with a 7-year persistent neurosensory deficit following mandibular nerve injury, attendees will see how serial neurosensory mapping and laser-assisted regeneration (LAR) protocols utilizing Nd laser technology produced measurable sensory improvement over time.

The webinar will also discuss treatment protocols, patient assessment techniques, energy delivery parameters, and the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. Attendees will gain practical insight into incorporating photobiomodulation therapy into daily practice as an adjunctive treatment modality for nerve injuries, postoperative healing, and regenerative care.

Learning Objectives

Participants will learn how to:

  1. Explain the etiology and clinical presentation of inferior alveolar nerve injuries.
  2. Understand the biologic mechanisms of PBMT and its role in neural repair.
  3. Evaluate how laser-assisted regeneration (LAR) may support recovery in chronic neurosensory deficits.
  4. Perform and interpret serial neurosensory mapping.
  5. Apply Nd laser protocols and treatment parameters for nerve injury cases.
  6. Integrate photobiomodulation therapy into clinical workflows to enhance healing and improve patient outcomes.
