About this Webinar

As many as 70% of all restorations are replacements for restorations that failed earlier, and the tooth-restoration margin is often the weakest link.

In this webinar, Dr. Robert A. Lowe looks at the main causes of caries and restoration failure, including bacterial dysbiosis driven by acid-producing organisms such as Streptococcus mutans.

He then explains how bioactive restorative materials interact with the tooth and the oral environment to help interrupt the demineralization cycle. Through clinical cases, attendees will see how “smart” materials can help preserve and rebuild compromised tooth structure, extend restoration longevity, and reduce the need for more advanced treatment over a patient’s lifetime.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key causes of dental caries and restoration failure, including bacterial dysbiosis and breakdown at the restorative margin.
  • Explain how bioactive restorative materials interact with tooth structure and the oral environment to help counter demineralization.
  • Describe clinical situations where bioactive materials can help preserve and rebuild compromised tooth structure.
  • Apply a minimally invasive, long-term restorative approach aimed at extending restoration longevity and tooth survival.
