This case report article presents augmentation methods that are more predictable and less invasive than those used in the past.

• Know the survival rates for short implants with textured surfaces and when they fail.
• Learn the indications for short implants and when to use them in lieu of vertical augmentation and standard-length implants.
• Be able to identify other options for managing the partially edentulous patient with bilateral posterior atrophy.
